Every year the Union Public Service Commission conducts a nationwide competitive examination for recruitment to various Civil Services of Government of India including IAS, IFC and IPS services. The candidates who qualify the preliminary exams are called for the mains exam and subsequently, the ones who qualify the mains exam are called for the final round- interview round.
Candidates who are looking to apply for IAS 2017 will have to download the application form from the official UPSC website. The form consists of 2 parts which need to be filled out carefully and once done, candidates will be issued admission e-certificates for the prelims exam.
To be eligible for an IAS exam, a candidate must be an Indian citizen and must be 21 years of age but not more than 32 years of age. There is an age relaxation of upto a maximum of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST category and a maximum of 3 years for candidates belonging to other backward class.
To apply, the candidate must have at least one of the following qualifications- a degree from a deemed university or a degree received through correspondence or distance education or a degree from an open university. The number of attempts a candidate has for IAS exam is 6 for general category, 9 for OBC category candidates and unlimited number of attempts till the age of 37 for SC/ST candidates.
Dates for IAS Prelims 2017
Notifications for 2017 IAS exam will be released by the Union Public Service Commission on February 22, 2017. Application forms will be available from February 22- March 17, 2017. The admit cards for preliminary exam will be released in May 2017. June 18, 2017 is the date for Prelims exam of IAS offline exam and the results will be declared in the month of August/ September 2017.
Dates for IAS Mains 2017
After cracking the prelims, you will have to submit the detailed application form online which will be available from August/ September 2017. The admit cards will be available September onwards and attempt the mains examination in October 28, 2017. The results will be out in December 2017. The candidates who qualify the mains examination will be eligible to appear for the final interview/personality test.
